About DigiByte
DigiByte was inspired and actually works almost the same way as Bitcoin. It is a decentralized, open source, peer-to-peer payment system that enables global fund transfer with little or no transaction fees. Transfer is instantaneous and secure.
Besides this, DigiByte has implemented a unique feature called DigiShield-and later MultiShield. This feature prevents mining pools with high hash rates from causing rapid inflation within the DigiByte network. It does this by continuously readjusting the network’s mining difficulty level after every 60 seconds.
This adjustment causes stability of DGB prices in major exchanges and prevents “pumps and dumps”. Other features include MultiAlgo whose hard fork happened on September 2014 and effected from Myriadcoid code. With MultiAlgo, different Proof of Work mining methods could take part in transaction validation not just specialized ASIC chips.
DigiByte is highly scalable as this guarantees speed especially when DGB is adopted by merchants as a form of payment. The network has a code that would intentionally double the block size and therefore transactions. As such, by 2035, it is estimated that DigiByte would handle as much as 280K TPS.
