Digital Cash (Dash) was originally released as XCoin (XCO) on January 18, 2014 by Evan Duffield as its founder. Evolution is the code name for a decentralized currency platform built on Dash blockchain technology. Evolution’s aims to make digital cash easy to access and use for all types of people, even those who are non-technical. It uses proof-of-work system to create new coins. Unlike Bitcoin's single-tier network, where all jobs on the network are performed by miners, Dash utilizes a two-tier network. It has a block creation time of 2.5 minutes in average and block size of 2MB. The block reward is 4 Dash coins. Dash also has transaction fees which, miners get by verifying transactions. The technology used in Dash is very limited on creation of smart contracts. Dash can handle up to 28 transactions per second.
