About QuarkChain

To make this possible, QuarkChain is working around the novel idea of network shards and root chain that run within a public and permissionless blockchain. Its main aim therefore is to improve network throughput and capacity as they claim their network processes more than one million transactions per second.

QuarkChain is centered on setting a balance between scalability and security and the only way to ensure the balance is by separating the layers. The first layer comprises of data shards which process sub-sets of all transactions independently. Data shards represent “chopped up pieces of the very large data base” meaning not all nodes confirm the same confirmation as it has been traditionally. The root chain functions to confirm all blocks from the sharded chains but it does not process transactions as it is mainly in place to prevent double spending or commonly known as the 50 percent attack.

Though many may consider the fact that they have not formed partnerships as a weakness, the team are mainly focusing on their product to make themselves serious contenders for scalability.
